Body Found in New Forest confirmed as suicide

THE body of a man found at a New Forest campsite in October has been confirmed by authorities as a suicide.

An inquest heard that Alan Tribbeck was found dead in his car at Rosemount Campsite in Brockenhurst.

Winchester Coroner’s court was told that Mr Tribbeck was a resident of the Newlands Hotel in Bournemouth, and had no close friends or family. The court heard that Tribbeck left the hotel at the end of September, and had booked two nights in the New Forest campsite on 27th September. Mr Tribbeck’s body was found by a campsite assistant on 1st October.

The court was told that the 51-year-old had a history of alcohol abuse. A series of notes and a picture of a dog were found in his car.

Mr Tribbeck’s official cause of death was listed as carbon monoxide poisoning.

When delivering a verdict of suicide, senior coroner Grahame Short said: “This was a planned act. It is not clear from the notes the reason why he chose to take this action, whether he was running out of money or whether he was in pain or loneliness. “It is a sad way for someone to end their life in these circumstances.”
